Music on the internet has struck a chord with everyone, no matter on which side you are on the fight for and against downloading it. It is important to play by the rules now that you purchased or are willing to purchase an MP3 player and you don’t want to be in the middle of this ugly fight. Below there are listed some services that charge a reasonable amount of money and are respectable names.

AOL Music NOW – In order for members to use, America On Line boasts over 1.5 million songs in their database, and besides that AOL is one of the major names in the internet. You can tryout AOL’s service on a free trial and downloading songs with only 0.99$.

MSN Music – Microsoft offers one million songs that are available for $0.99 per download, and it is another leading name in the internet. Still, MSN doesn’t offer a trial period for its product.

F.Y.E. – Providing 1.2 million songs to choose, F.Y.E is another leader in downloadable music, and only charges $1.00 per download after a free trial period.

Music Match – The Music Match software will charge you $0.99 per download for the music of your choice and will make personal recommendations. Besides this, Music Match does not offer a free trial period.

Pass Along – It has a smaller database than most download services, and it is rather new so it only offers around 400.000 songs, but it offers a nice perk in exchange. You get bonus points to reduce the price of future downloads when you make recommendations to your friends for certain types of music. Even if it does not offer a free trial, PassAlong starts at 0.99$ per download.

Napster – On a monthly membership fee basis, Napster is the name that started it all is now one of the premier outlets for music downloads. On up to three computers, with around one million songs in their database, Napster offers downloads for 9.95$ a month.

Wall Mart – This place offers the cheapest price for "Plays for Sure" compatible subscription on the market. Offering as PassAlong, about 400.000 songs, Wall Mart can offer the best prices thanks to their corporate structure. Still, Wall Mart does not offer a free trial.
