Posted by: football In electronics, it is possible to come up with just about any gadget geared toward a highly specific group of people. A perfect example of this is the Olympus Digital Voice Recorder and Music Player. This gadget is perfect for the conscientious student or the top-of-the-ladder executive. When Olympus was founded in 1919, its primary purpose was to design and manufacture microscopes, but it has evolved since then and moved on to cameras, accessories for cameras, and voice recorders. And now, at the height of digital player frenzy, Olympus released its own digital voice recorders equipped with music players.
Unlike most audio players, the Olympus DM-10 and DM-20 players are not meant built primarily to play music files. They are made to be voice recorders, and the abilities to download and play MP3 and WMA files are just added bonuses. The DM-10, priced at $179.99, has 22 hours worth of recording time and a USB port, while the DM-20, priced at $289.99, has a recording time worth 45 hours. It also has a USB docking station and can take transcribe notes from dictation. For people who need a longer recording time and a faster transfer process, Olympus offers WS-300M, WS-310M, and WS-320M. The WS-300M has a recording time of 68 hours and a storage capacity for around 66 songs. WS-310M has a recording time of 138 hours and storage for 132 songs. Lastly, WS-320 can record for 277 hours and carry 266 songs. The recorders in the WS series (priced between $149.99 to $229.99) can also be plugged directly into the computer without the use of additional cables; all you need to do is remove the battery, and the recorder becomes plug-and-play. Olympus products are perfect choices for anyone who needs a recorder, but they do have shortcomings. The design of the navigation system is not that user-friendly in general, and some buttons are too small in size in particular. The battery life also isn't ideally long. However, the high-quality of audio from the recordings compensate for that shortcoming. However, if what you're looking for is an MP3 player with a large disk space and high quality, then choose something else that's specifically designed to be that way. Olympus products are great but they are not designed to MP3 players.
